How To Cook Five-Spice Beef Stew with Lemongrass


Beef is very popular meat around the world. In Vietnamese cuisine, beef can be cooked to many dishes, one of which is five-spice beef stew with lemongrass. It is suitable if having the meal in autumn and winter.

The ingredients are:
  • 1kg of muscle beef
  • 1 tsp of five-spice powder
  • 1.5 tsp of seasoning stock
  • 2 stalks of lemongrass
  • 1 chilli
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 250ml of water


How to cook it:
Dice the beef into roughly 2cm dices. Then put them into a plastic box.


Select two stalks of lemongrass. Then pound them and chop them into 2-3 chunks. Mix lemongrass with beef in the box.


Put a tsp of five-spice powder, one and a half tsp of seasoning stock onto the beef. Shake the box to mix them well. Afterwards, chill the beef roughly four hours.


Put the beef, lemongrass, a chili, three cloves of garlic, and 250ml of water into the pressure pot. Close the lid and start cooking. When the water is boiled, decrease the fire to medium. Continue to stew in 40 minutes.
